How Pelvic Floor Exercises Can Also Change the Way You Play the Violin

How Pelvic Floor Exercises Change the Way You Play the Violin

About the Person

Susanne Berendes

Susanne Berendes, 61, is a professional violinist and CANTIENICA® instructor. She plays in an orchestra, teaches movement theory to aspiring music educators at the Kassel Music Academy (Louis Spohr Academy), and works with musicians who play a wide variety of instruments.

Her journey to the CANTIENICA® method began after the birth of her second daughter—triggered by pelvic floor prolapse and physical overexertion. She discovered the CANTIENICA® Method through a book and only realized, as she progressed through her own training, just how profoundly it affects musicians in particular: helping with stage fright, shoulder pain, psoas tension, breathing problems, and chronic postural imbalance.

Today, Susanne combines her decades of stage experience with precise physical work—practical, honest, and with great respect for artistic reality.
